Landing at Old Grass Field Airports in NJ and PA

The Golden Age of aviation is still alive today in the use of these old grass strip airports that still exist. Years before long paved runways that land airliners, biplanes would navigate with little or no instruments and land (sometimes in the dark) on these small grass landing "areas." One of the ones I visited (Sunbury Airport) was opened in the early 1900s as an emergency field for pilots flying the mail. Mostly used today for Camping, the field is still open to airplanes. The others are Butter Valley Airport which is an unusual field that was a golf facility first, and they added a runway at some point because so many men were just landing their planes on the fairways to play a round (or so I heard). The last is Vansant Airport, dating back to the 30s I think.
